Its a ball powder and more temperature sensitive than a single base. Easily corrected with load development, one for summer, one for winter. Otherwise, it meters well (ball powder) and is great everywhere else!

Of course when one lives in the Upper Left Hand Corner of the US, Summer? Winter? How can you tell the difference unless it's the temperature of the rain. I've been shooting CFE223 in our "Winter" temps of mid 20's and recently a "Summer" temp of just over 80 degrees with no change in performance.

Might be a bigger issue for somewhere where they can ice skate in the winter and have triple digits in the summer.

I got 2 lbs of this at the local Cabelas store. Running 26.0 grains of it with SS109 bullets for slinging at steel gongs. Runs 2921 fps out of a 20" Colt AR... Good room for higher and lower temps.

I have used CFE in my AR with 52g to 75g. with excellent results, just one thing to pay attention to, is it is very temp. sensitive, mag primers work very well with it also, it has a fairly slow burn rate. I now use AR comp with awesome results with 68s and 75s.

I use it specifically for 147-155 grain loads (308) in short-medium length barrels. I have done rather extensive testing of how clean it is, and was rather surprised that it seems to run cleaner in 308 than it does in 223.

I was lucky enough to get a few lbs about a year ago, and just had a few more lbs delivered in late April. Most of it has been loaded,as I had 1600-308 shells, and 2300-223 shells awaiting it's arrival.
