Certain # of posts to sell goods

I'll betcha if I posted a NSX for a $1000 the buyer wouldn't care if I was a site contributor!

Does anyone know if the "site contributor" under the user name is removed after some period of time (1 year?). If it doesn't that may be something to consider doing. That could possibly get more people to donate annually instead of once and always being shown as a site contributor.

Just a thought.

I think a free forum and classifieds is a good thing, if I had to pay from the get go I would have passed altogether..I don't think a tax will generate revenue..

Let's keep it simple. I don't think this system is broke, so why implement something that's not needed. No one forces you to buy here. If you don't feel good about someone selling something, then don't buy it.

Damfino, now what excuse am I going to use to buy. Now I will feel pressured into making a decision.

Maybe, but it's easy to say that when you are the consumer, not the provider, right?

I was thinking about it like I would if the government was to tax a business or add more tax to the costumers. Would I think it would help or hinder?

A one time fee of $5-15 for Classifieds or a donations, no >>>yellow<<< sales just green..

Ray

It happens to be a PRIVILEGE offered by the Forum Boss, and taken advantage of, by many. There would be nothing wrong with a fee for use. The site wasn't designed to be a free park & swap.

I've been on another board that only allows paid members to use the classifieds. Seems like the moderator is always having to lock and/or modify threads because people are either posting WTS/WTB ads in a round about way. I'm fine with it, but I'm not the one that'll have to try to enforce the rule.

I think after a certain number of selling transactions you should be obligated to donate something. I've seen some with feedback pushing 75 or more & having not donated a dime. JMO

This really is FREE ENTERPRISE. The site is supporting this guys side line. Wish I could run a business with ZERO overhead.

Well this thread kind of went awry, not my intention going the way of paid classifieds. And never, ever did I make the assumption that 1st time poster-seller was any less reputable or trustworthy as a 2000 count guy, Face it, it's a gun forum, wrong crowd to bone :)

My thoughts were to make sure someone belonged here before selling? Maybe that's out of line. I do like a good deal the same as the next guy, but.

This thread stems from a for sale ad, here, Long Range Hunting, maybe the Hide, I can't remember nor am I going looking for it. It was for an HS takeoff stock, 1st post, $350.00. Not only was I mad about the price, but first post and I couldn't trash the guys ad out, some on here can, but I've had enough warnings to steer clear.
Just struck a nerve, maybe more because I know some clown will pay it. A year ago these went for 200-225.00, now 275.00 is bottom dollar. I should have vented in a different fashion.

Edit, there's a dude on 24hr campfire, not a single contributing post, I checked, but manages to fill up 3 consecutive pages with his dribble, didn't see many nibbles either. But that sites classifieds are revolving fast, post at 8:00 am today, you may find it on page 25 that evening!

I see stuff sell on here for more then it cost new all the time.. I wanted to comment on a Celestron spotting scope the other day that had a $250 asking price (it sold I believe) and you can get them new on Ebay for $139 shipped..

Ray

Ray:

The price for the Celestron 65 Regal was a good one...the ebay pricing you refer to is for a lesser scope like the Ultima...big difference.

Ray:

With all due respect on the item at hand, the links are all to Celestron Regals and the price is appropriate:

Celestron Regal 65 F-ED Spotting Scope, with original box and paperwork. Includes a soft cover and a camera adapter (for digiscoping, I believe... never used it). Was purchased April 2013 and is in like-new condition.

Just like this one...

And this one...

And this one, except mine's a 65mm, not an 80mm...

Not intending to get into a pissing match but lets let the facts play.
