CED I/R not working

i have a cedI that works 100% with 22 lr. and 180 gr 308 at 2600 but with 40 gr. at 3400 it works 30% if it passes on center 1" above senser and not at all if 6"above senser. ced teck says the smaller the bullet and the faster it's going the harder it is to pick up. my next project is a 20 vt. has anyone had theirs work with 17 or 20 bullets at 3700 to 4000 fps? thank you.

Check the 9 volt battery in the main unit. My CED I will pick up pistol bullets at 1000 fps, but not .223 at 2900 when the battery is low. The system doesn't make it obvious that the battery is low, so it's easy to overlook.
