CDI DBM system - same as M5 DBM?

Is the CDI Precision DBM bottom metal system the same as M5 bottom metal? Will the CDI fit in a stock inletted for for M5 DBM system? Thanks

Gene

For what it's worth, I read on another forum that the owner of CDI passed away recently (2-Aug 2019), and the company is being disbanded.

May want to double check that, but the person who posted it said Jeff's wife answered, and was making arrangements to return items he'd shipped to CDI.

Sad news.

Wow! I hope that is not the case...I have one rifle done by CDI and they did a good job...had a couple of "bumps" in the process but they made it right. Sorry to hear of his passing if it is true.

"Muleystalker", is this information verified thru your experience with this? Not doubting you in any way but, just want to know for sure because I have a stock that I would like to purchase and already have a CDI DBM set up that I could use for the stock which has an M5 inlet. Thanks

Yes Jeff Allen did pass away early last month. He was a heck of a nice guy.

Yes, I have one. It can be fitted in the stock with a little inletting but I can't remember If you may have to do a little fill in. I believe it was just some inletting. The front of the bottom metal where the front action screw goes is more squared than a nice round radious like the M5.

Thanks for the information...appreciate you getting back with me on this and having first hand knowledge about the fitment. Thanks

I guess I will ask another question...is there such a thing as hinged floorplate bottom metal made to fit an M5 stock inlet? All these different DBM systems are somewhat confusing as to what ones fit what inlet...M4, M5 etc...half of them advertised don't give enough information as to what type inlet they actually do fit.
Thinking that if there is a simple "BDL type" hinged floorplate design for an M5 inlet, that this may be something to pursue. Thanks

You can make any metal fit any inlet with a little bedding or inletting. Little careful work and you can go any way you want

Easier solution is to sell what you have and buy the most common bottom metal assembly.... an M5! I may have one and a stock for sale that I know fits?? :D;)

Will he be offering the free inletting as well? That was the selling point of cdi
Copy from his post to the thread on SH:

PLEASE contact Sandy and offer our condolences. On that note, LRI is likely one of the few shops that can handle the tempo they likely enjoyed. We would be very happy to assist her during this difficult time. That is a probono offer. I'm not looking to grind someone during something like this. Merely offering to help. I've called a couple times. I imagine they have their hands full.

605.490.2561 and we are happy to help if at all possible. Jeff was one of the good guys.

Sorry for their loss.

C.

I take it to mean that but only Chad Dixon knows for sure.
