CCW Insurance

Hi-NV Shooter

Just as the title says. anyone have CCW insurance to cover legal debt should you have to defend yourself? I know the NRA version went belly up. I heard a presentation from a guy at USCCA just wondering who here has this type of insurance Pros and Cons on it

I went with ccw safe. They seem highly recommended and have no cap on legal fees and you don’t have to be reimbursed. But I want to check out the place Dusty recommended. I have not heard of that one, but looks really good at first glance.

Ideally you want a policy to pay on behalf of you and not reimburse you. The latter means you have to shell out the $ and wait for reimbursement. That can get dicey depending on the amount involved and length of your trouble.

X insurance. Those group policies are useless i assure you. Theyll even replace your gun while its in impound
Dusty ,

I spoke with X Insuranceand there are so many various policies they offer it seemed the agent I spoke with may not have been familiar with the CCW options. Would it be possibile for you to share what type of policy and coverage along with approximate cost. That way I may have better luck when I speak with them again.

Thanks,
Dave

I have U.S. Lawshield. It provides legal representation for civil and criminal incidents. Everyone should have some kind of coverage.

If you go to their website you can click on the ccw option and see what they have. Its kind of ala carte according to if you have other insurance they can fill in the gaps or write a whole policy tailored to your needs. They even have a policy to pay for stolen guns in addition to what a current policy you may have wont cover- like if you say its worth $2000 but your homeowners only will pay $500 they send you $1500. Each line item is what you want instead of just a policy. Id call back and talk to somebody else. They built their business on ccw liability insurance

I have been with USCCA for some time now with no complaints. Those that I have heard of actually using their products were all happy campers post-incident.

The main issue with the mainstream companies you see mentioned a lot is their legal funds are like a pool and are shared between members. Most of them, even the ones you see mentioned here on this thread, can stop paying anytime they deem you may have a losing case or if its high profile it may get very expensive. Also they are reimbursement plans so if they do pay its after you are bankrupt. I have heard way too many horror stories on the free range bag so called “insurance plans” that are out there. Just do your research and check reviews before you contribute to a legal fund you may need someday. Heres an example of one refusing to pay and are probably hoping she just goes to jail so they dont have to finish paying. A legal service subscription plan is what they call them.

If you still want to use a subscription service instead of an actual policy here is a comparison of the more popular ones. Just hope your trial or bail doesnt run out of alotted monies.

US LawShield. I have been with them for several years since the were originally Texas LawShield. Although I never have had to use them a friend of mine has. When he had a situation arise he called them immediately and they took over everything including representing him in court where they got the charges dropped. It was a issue with a game warden who had issued him a ticket on what the game warden said was poaching a protected snake with a shotgun.

Ask them if they will come bail you out of jail, who your lawyer will be, will they replace your gun while its evidence, and what the exclusions are such as the share plans do not cover family members. Hope you dont have a crazy brother in law trying to kill you on a drunken rampage. All the share plans are great if its an easy case or if you dont have to use them.

Another exclusion i found out about on those group plans is if youre in a gun free zone they dont pay one dime. That includes a restaurant where the goofy owner puts a little sign on the door saying its a gun free zone

Dusty,

Really appreciate all the information on X insurance. I never hear of them till you mentioned them and the reason I started this thread, was to see what was out there. I also appreciate all the others who have posted to this thread.
when I listened to the USCCA rep he started telling a story, which was fine until he started to try and add details to make it more exciting in the hopes to get some of the group I was with to purchase the coverage. my BS meter pegged. if he thought it was such a great product he shouldn't have to BS anyone.

The reason im so passionate about it is because a guy around here, friend of an acquaintance, had that one and it was good until he needed it. They sent a lawyer that had never done criminal defense, only estates and such, and once the case started going against him they stopped paying. He had to get his own lawyer so he pretty much had to pay twice to get out of that then sued the company and lost because the policy wasnt in his name whatsoever. He lost his house, business and family and a year of his life.
