CCI small rifle primer, magnum ??

I am just starting out on a new load of 6mm BR. New to me. It has been suggested that CCI #450 is the way to go for small primer. All I am finding is Magnum type in the #450. I looked at CCI web site and the don't have a reg #450. They don't even list a reg #450 primer as even out of stock. I shouldn't load a magnum primer, should I ?

They work great in the BR,many folks prefer them over all the others .

The CCI 450 is a magnum primer,
use the search function in the upper right corner for threads on primer testing also on the BR page you’ll find a pinned load data thread.

The "regular" CCI small rifle primer is a 400. Then there is also a BR4 version of the 400 with a heavier cup like the 450. Then CCI makes a 41 primer marketed for the 5.56/223 case. It would also work.

Lots of CCI choices.

I found that I got slightly smaller groups using the 400's over the 450's in a 6br and 29.0 gr Varget. Then I switched to Federal 205Ms and got even better groups.

Primers are hard to find right now.
Just tune your load to what you have on hand.
They all work really well in the 6br.
If you have different ones and don't mind wasting some, you could
see which one shoots smallest.

I just took inventory, I have 3000 of those Federals made of gold. I think I will just enjoy them . I just would not feel right if I ever made a profit in this sport ,why break my losing record for a few bucks.

I find it unbelievable that someone is willing to pay $1 each for primers. Either they are just plain foolish or have a ton of disposable income. If our world continues like this they may be worth twice that in the near future.
(PS) If some one is foolish enough to give me $5000 for a case of the same primers I am willing to drive a 300 mile radius from my house to deliver them.

Remember the Federal 215M shortage a few years ago. Unbelievable prices for primers. It will turn around again after elections. Its the four year cycle.

Br4s, are my favorite for 6 BR. 450s, 205M and the old Russian Wolfs work too.

If they get to 2 bucks a piece I may have to sell.

I am going to check to make sure that I have enough 450's for my 6.5x47. They will be the next to go, however they were a lot easier to find than the 205m and 210m's during the Obama years.
