CCI 450 primers

I've had 2 misfires so far with the CCI450's. I bought 1000 pak ,so I guess I could have more out of this lot. Anyone else using 450's experiencing primers not going off ?

What are you shooting them in? I have shot 10,000 plus out of an AR15 and a bunch more out of Remington 700 and custom bolt guns. They are one of the hardest primers though.

i wouldn't blame the primers, it is slightly posible though ?

are you reaming or cleaning your pockets too deep? i used to do that and my Forster press seats primers just below flush and caused a few mis fires for me awhile back.

when have you cleaned the inside of your bolt and checked the spring? etc

I have recently only switched to the 450's from Winchesters. Not one misfire with the Wins. but the 450's do set the charge of Varget off a little better. The primer was definitely struck hard enough. Bolt has been gone over by GreTan. Bushed ,turned & spring checked. Pockets were only squared up once,use ultrasonic to clean them. I will mark the misfired case & reload it to see if the problem lies there. Trued Remington 700 6br

check the headspace on the misfires. the firing pin could be pushing the case forward causing the misfire.

CCI450's have a very thick cup on them and require a good firing pin strike to detonate them. It's possible to have a misfire due to a weak firing pin spring or a short firing pin. You might not notice it if you were using standard CCI400's or Winchester small rifle primers both of which have thinner cups.

Have you tried other primers? If so and the same thing occurs, rocketron has it right.

As stated earlier ,cases were loaded with Winchester primers numerous times & no misfires. Today I took apart the non-firing cartridge ,installed a new primer ,poured in the same powder & used the same bullet. End result it fired. I still thinking bad primer.
