cci 400 primers

You will see flattened primers even at middle of the road charges with 400s.... No problem really just thinner cups as others have stated.... I have been using them in .223 even mild 5.56 for a decade and don't see piercing but I do see flattened.... There's other , better ways to check for over pressure , flattened primers are just a fairly easy way to detect it... Load them up you will be fine as long as you're not trying to load hot... I would worry more about temperature sensitivity in powder during the summer heat...
 
One of the reasons that Savages crater and blank primers is the bolt face is dished around the pin hole. When they tumble them after heat treat they run them too long and it beats the area into a dish. That is why you have to have it bushed. It is not always a poor fitting pin.
