CCI 22LR faulty ammo

I recently watched a YouTube video of a guy testing a new in box Taurus TX22 with CCI Stingers and he had a squib load without knowing it and fired another round and bulged the barrel.

Any of you had or heard of problems with new production CCI 22LR ammo ?

I had a bullet get stuck a month ago or so in a .22mag revolver using CCI rounds.... It's the only problem I have ever had with CCI over the years but I normally only shoot their standard velocity in .22LR... It was fresh ammo that had the problem....less than a few months old....

Careful with the YouTube preachers. CCI is a—if not THE—standard for reliability in rimfire cartridges.

I have fed and yanked the trigger on something way into the tens of thousands of rounds of their stuff over close to 30 years, most recently 5k of 0035 at a time. A very good friend of mine is probably 2-3 pistol BARRELS into CCI 0035....

I can only very rarely recall the instance of a CCI not going bang. Most recently, my 41 got
gunky enough in the pin channel that it was light striking. Not the fault of Cascade.

If I could only ever have one type of rimfire round for the rest of my life, it would be 0035. I would never trust my life to a .22 LR, but if I had to, CCI would be the ammo.

I get an occasional fail to fire with CCI SV.

I just bought a case of 5,000 rounds, if that tells ya anything.

First of all it would seem to me that shooter was not paying attention if he had a squib and did not notice it. As mentioned above I am leery of most stuff posted on Youtube and do not give much credence to it.

As far as CCI 22 LR ammo, I have shot thousands of rounds of it and I cannot recall ever having a squib or fail to fire with it, but it certainly is possible with CCI or any other manufacturers ammo. Considering the vast quantities of it produced odds are that occasionally there will be one with a primer issue or even not quite enough powder so yes, it is possible. That is why there is a responsibility on the shooter to pay attention also.

It is my ammo of choice, especially given how well it performs in relation to its reasonable price.

that don't make any sense. would a baseball bat or knife be better? my wife carries a LCR wiith 8rds of the CCI segmented ammo.
You saying that wont work?
Lets just say that i disagree with that added in statement....

reminds me of a post long ago where a guy used a MP-15 22LR with a 30rd mag in his home for self defense and a guy said it was inhumane to shoot someone with a 22lr.???

I could not even guess how many thousands of 22rf rounds I have shot over the years, along with grandsons and a daughter.
Have had a few fail to fire, but just tossed them or hit them again and they went off. ( And not just CCI brand)
But never a squib or stuck bullet. Seems like the occasional fail is just something that occurs with the rf rounds.
But just think of the billions that have been shot in all these years, and it is still on the top of the list of cartridges that sell the most year after year.

MISS fires are usually caused by, 4 Reasons,.. 1) A weak Hammer / Striker,.. spring. 2) A Small Firing Pin, "Face". 3) NOT cleaning / Oiling Gun,.. PROPERLY ! 4) Too much, "Headspace" ( or, an indented, Chamber "Face" from, Dryfiring ), allowing for, an UN-supported Rim and, a POOR / weak, "strike" !
With a New, bigger & wider, Volquartsen Firing Pin, my Ruger 10-22 has NOT had, one "miss fire" since, installation. And NEVER leave your Gun "cocked", while in Storage mode, as this, weakens the Hammer Spring over, Time !

Calm down, and hop off your war horse.

I’ll rephrase:

I would never intentionally CHOOSE .22LR as a primary self defense weapon.

Trust me: I know extremely precisely what a .22LR can kill, and it warn’t learnt from a book. (S’don’t lecture me.)

Have had many occasional bad rounds of CCI 22 lr. through the years. What toasted my bread is when I recently had a 22 mag split in half, I notified and sent the remaining rounds to them. They came up with a b.s. decision that I stored it next to paint cans. Not only is that a lie, but it shows me that when they can't figure what went wrong, they blame the shooter and wash their hands. F*#^ CCI. I would rather spend twice as much for Eley 22 lr. than buy CCI. Don't buy CCI 22 mag anymore either.

I have fired literally thousands of CCI 22 Long Rifle Standard velocity ammo in my Ruger Single Six and S&W Model 17's revolvers and I can't remember the last time I had a failure to fire or squib load.

In my experience this is the most reliable long rifle ammo I've ever used and I've shooting rim fire pistol for about 50 years now.

I don't shoot their other rim fire ammo but I would find it strange that it wasn't just as reliable.
