CCI 200 for a 7PRC

I have a good friend who just moved back to Nova Scotia a year ago. He got into reloading 3 years ago and took to it like a duck takes to water, engineer by trade. He has a 7PRC inbound and can’t find any CCI 250s or other large rifle magnum primers in the area.

So the question is can he use a CCI 200. I’m sure he can, I’m sure it will ignite the powder charge but I have no experience in the situation. What are the negatives. Thought I’d ask here and pick your brains for opinions.

If you live in Nova Scotia and have some CCI 250s or other LRMP I’m sure he would also be interested and grateful if you wanted to cut some loose.

From an article in the Bulletin by James Calhoon, "Primers and Pressure Analysis":

From this chart, it looks as though cup thickness is the same on all the LRPs listed. My initial thought from your post was that pierced primers might possibly be an issue, but I doubt it after seeing this. So it seems the main issue will be whether the 200s provide sufficient/acceptable ignition. I rather suspect that with proper powder selection and load workup they will do just fine.
