I order a new Criterion / CBI Barrel from Northland Savage in 243 AI for a build. 14 weeks she came in mail. The best looking custom barrel I have ever purchased..............My seventh one, custom barrel that is. Three from Douglas, One Brux, one Shilen, one ER Shaw and this one. This CBI fit, finish is better than any of the others. I had a question about the barrel and Jim from Northland called CBI, Steve from CBI said to send it in for inspection just in case. 6 Days later including the call to Northland and barrel is back with clean bill of health all on their dime, free ship both ways........................First group at 100 yds all bullet holes touching.
Now, when I called Douglas about a problem, I was told to go back to my reloads and start over with new brass. Okay this was a 22-243 AI, but my third barrel from Douglas in 22-243 AI and this one wouldn't shoot. Next they told me to lap it with steel wool, and I replied that was their job not mine. They never offered to look it over for me. The problem was I ordered a 1-9 and I got a 1-7.8 or something like that. I was blowing up cases using my old load data, start and max.
My ER Shaw barrel shot good but not perfect, was told to send it in on my dime. Got it back after 4 months and its fine now.
Anyway CBI has my attention.
A new friend that shoots F/Class uses all Criterion right now due to no break in and long life, 5.5" at 1000 yds first shots and when turned smaller groups. He is using them on Stiller actions and Panda.
