Caveman engineering thoughts

Have any of you shot from inside a trailer? Air conditioned or heated trailer? I’ve heard of mirage inside being a problem. And of course if the trailer wiggles so does your bench. Sooo, how about I stick Extra long and heavy legs through the floor? Isolate the bench from the trailer. Winter project maybe, I live in the desert and can’t stand the heat as well as I could 100 years ago. Mike

Heat going out through a shooting port (window) will give you more mirage than the law allows.

Just block the trailer frame up.
Like mobile home setup.
4 cinder blocks or similar.
Heat bad, ac good.
Yep, I’ve seen folks use four scissor jacks. Sure would make things easier but, Two things 1. I’m thinking just a little wind on the tall profile would cause wiggles. 2. Vibration from the a/c.

I shoot from my house, I have to shut the door to the shooting room to let the cold air in to equalize some . Mirage can be impossible when it's 20-30 below . POI changes also when only a foot of the barrel is out in the cold for long .

Well it will be mostly a/c but I’ll give it some thought. I envy you guys that can shoot from your house.

I have a very tolerant wife , if she hears me stomp my foot twice when I am upstairs she knows to plug her ears . I am a lucky man .

Keep the seat off the bench. Nothing worse than trying to shoot from a bench with a seat on it. Just get you a legacy shooting bench, good drummers stool, get a tile guy to bed backer board in the trailer floor, and get some real good scissor jacks on all 4 corners not just stabilizing jacks. Then go have fun and dont fret too much

If the inside temp is warmer than the outside temp, your open window will be a mirage hole. Been there done that. Positive side is you’ll learn how to shoot in a mirage. Good luck, worth the effort to do.

To easy. But probably end up that way.

I would just put a trailer jack on all four corners then you would be steady and also have the ability to level it

From your sketch, looks like a small trailer. You can get it to not wiggle with just the tongue jack on front and blocks/jack stands on rear corners. 3 points are almost always steadier than 4 on less than perfectly level ground. Less hassle. Works for me on a 5' x 8' YMMV.

Good drum thrones are worth every penny.

I hunt a lot from my trailer and don’t experience any problems, however I’m laying prone across the bed. I do not notice any mirage problems. Though I don’t see why it would be any different than shooting a string on targets during the heat with just the muzzle out of the window/whatever vs standing outside.
