All bullets are hollow point design, made on Sierra Matchking jackets and stand up to high velocities very well. No automated presses are used to make these bullets. They are all handmade by me on the best carbide dies on the planet. I have 18 Rockchucker presses modified for bullet making. I'm a one man operation and want it this way to insure top quality bullets. I extrude my own lead wire for extra uniformity. All the shooter has to do is load and shoot the finished bullets, because I check them all through the various manufacturing steps. Bullets within the same lot do not have to be sorted into different batches, because I've already done that for you as I make them.

I recently purchased some 141, 147, and 155 6.5mm VLDs from him but I don't expect to shoot them before mid to late Summer (rifle in process - waiting on my barrel). Nice fellow to deal with.

Bob makes great bullets and I have shot a lot of his 7mm 176 and 177 grain bullets with outstanding results. However, I don't believe that the BC of the 177 Cauterucio is any better than the 180 Berger VLD. I had some time left after I shot a 20 round match string at 1000 yards withe the Berger 180 so I shot five of the 177 Cauterucios loaded with the same powder charge and seating depth as the Bergers. The Cauterucios grouped about 5 inches below the 180s. Nothing wrong with the group, but they should have impacted higher if the BC is anything like .750

Did the two differant wieghts have exactly the same point of impact at 100yards. Tuff to say that if they didn't start at the same point.

I've never had any reason to compare them at 100 yards. For the same powder load and seating depth into the lands, the muzzle velocities are essentially the same. I had just shot a nice match using Berger 180s with everything centered up vertically and I thought I'd give the cauterucios a try at 1000 yards since I can't test very often at that distance. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with these bullets, just that, if the muzzle velocities are about the same and the BC of one is .090 higher than the other, it should impact higher on the paper at 1000 yards. My guess is that the BCs are about the same. I understand but differant weights do and can cause differant harmonics so point of impact could be differant. If bobs are lower at 100 than the Bergers than that scews the results. I do believe what Bryan says. Just sayin.

The point about harmonics is an excellent one. In my experience, the 177 Cauterucio and the 180 Berger tune the same which I think means that the harmonics are the same. I use the same powder charge and jam with both. I have used Jason Baney round robun ladder testing method to tune my loadings with both of them. I actually bought them to get the Sierra jackets when the Berger 180 thick jacket bullets were not available. One of my 284 Shehane barrels was blowing up the thin jacket 180s at 2900 fps, so I really wanted a VLD with a tougher jacket and these happened to be available. And they do shoot very, very consistently. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more if I needed any bullets and I never feel at a disadvantage shooting them in a match.

I can measure some 141.5 VLDs from a recent lot tonight and post. I cannot, with certainty, remember the max diameter at the 'pressure ring'.

Just found that the 120s' measure 0.2655 at pressure ring which I think may be to large for
standard bore which I think is 0.258, correct me if I am wrong on that.

These bullets were probably made on my oversize die which I shoot most of the time in my 260 Rem barrel, which has a (.2640 groove dia) you will find this 120 gr VLD bullet has a measurable reduced dia. tapered shank. This bullet die was made for shooters with worn barrels. And are offered on special order basis. These bullets allow shooters to squeeze several hundred more accurate rounds from their worn barrels. The oversize bullet's pressure ring maintains a good gas seal which is a requirement for accuracy.

I shot NRA High Power for 30 years and I always used .3088" dia bullets in my .3075" groove dia. cut barrels.
