Cataract Lens

I was thrilled with Lasik surgery around 15 years ago but over the last year my right eye deteriorated significantly, now making it difficult to see at distance and through the scope. Cataract surgery is in my near future, and there are a myriad of lens options available especially in the last few years. Trifocal "all distance" lens is not an option due to many reported difficulties. Vivity extended intermediate and long distance is a step down from this, and the Toric distance looks like a good fit. Then there is also the monofocal distance; all these utilize a laser procedure for improved precision. Looking for any recent experience, especially with these particular lens.

I'm scheduled to get mine done in a couple of weeks, toric lens. After adjustment period I'll get a set of progressive lens glasses. Little to no power in upper and presciption in the lower portion. Sort of like the glasses I wear now.
 
I'm not sure which lenses I got but had the laser extra afterwards and I could see with no problems through scopes and read the fine print on an OTC medicine bottle. Will check and see which ones.

Edit: Mine were distance with a tiny bit of against the rule astigmatism which helps near vision.
Johnson and Johnson Eyehance is the newest version of extended depth lenses.

Not a doctor but did stay at a Holiday Inn a few times so check with your surgeon for your particular case.

Side note: There are differences in lens cost. I opted to not get the ones made in Guangdong province. :-)

Did the near/far dual lense...cost an extra $2500 per eye but no more glasses.Can still spot a deer at 1/2 mile or more. Can see my scope turrets at 6" and read them! Figured my eyes are worth it.Can shoot iron sights again. Cant beat it. 20/20 vision now.....

I could just as well made this very Post.

I wore glasses for 40 years, heavy bifocals. Around 12 years ago, I also had LASIK.

Because I was extremely far sighted, they gave me twin vision, the right ey for distance, the left for close up.

It was great for sbout 10 years, but now my vision has deteriorated to the point that I cannot see my flags much past 100 yards. I have to use readers periodically. I also developed some very small cataracts.

I have consulted with The Whitzett Eye Clinic, and the told me much the same info as you recieved.

I think I am going to opt for the best single vision lens implants they offer, and wear readers. It is a huge decision. The multi focal looks good on paper, but the last pair of glassesI had before LASIK we’re progressive focal, and I hated them.

They quoted me a stout price for the job. Insurance will not cover it. They did a complete eye exam, and I have no other problems with any other parts of my eyes.

My biggest problem is shutting my schedule down long enough to get it done.

IIRC, I had the three different ones but I understand that's been reduced to one kind of drop.
 
Been in glasses for 20 years had both eyes done with multi focal lens the last 10 days. It’s great can see better than I did with glasses and only been 3 days on second one can’t wait to get behind scope
 
Thanks for the thread and to the responders. I couldn't get my surgery scheduled until March 8. Still waffling on lens to go with. Dominant eye is first. Does your night vision improve?
 
I just had my final, three week post op checkup on the second eye this week. I was 9 diopter nearsigthed, now 20/15 and like another, I can see things at distances I was never able to see with glasses or contacts. I got the straight distance lenses, but did opt for Toric in my right eye - $1500 not covered by insurance. Didn't make sense to not get it, though. Curiously, I see much better at reader distances, without readers, and can see everything in scopes better than ever, but the doc said that is quite unusual. Open sights are easy now too. I sure am not complaining.

I had cataract surgery on one eye a few years ago. Don't know what I got, but it removed much of my astigmatism and had prescription built into it. Went from 20/300 to 20/60 without lenses and 20/30 with lenses. Was like a miracle surgery for me...
 
I was very satisfied with the Lasik, could load a gun and bait a hook without glasses, and looking forward to getting back to this point after cataracts. Modern medicine is a marvel. Thanks for the input.
 
Distance vision with astigmatism correction for me - both done August last year. The Dr didn't recommend the dual distance - said they didn't do either as well as single. So, I wear the progressive readers for safety as much as anything. 20/20 in both eyes now and he said that would never change.
VA paid for astigmatism correction whereas the Dr said Medicare wouldn't.
Beyond 12", everything is perfect. No glare at night. Scope without glasses is excellent. I'm now shooting irons/peeps again.
Being able to see colors again was the most remarkable thing. Cataracts were really bad before I could get a VA appointment, then surgery appointment.
 
I wore glasses for 14yrs then contacts for 40yrs before cataract surgery in both eyes in 2020 which also corrected astigmatism in my right eye. They gave me several options, I chose distance as prioity since I was already using readers and had them pre-positioned anyplace I "park" anyway.

Tried compromise options with contacts and was never happy, so knew I didn't want the same result permanently after cataract surgery.

While it is occasionally inconvenient I much prefer having 20/15 vision in both eyes.
