case trimmer

Im sure this has been covered a hunderd times, but im only looking at two different trimmers-forster and wilson. what are your opionons?
Thanks, Ben

I have been using a Forrester trimmer for the past 20+ years for 17, 224, 7mm, 6mm, 257, 30, 375 and 45. I have no experience with the Wilson, but the Forrester has served me well.

I have used My Wilson for 50 years, with the hand crank. When I went into Hi-volume loading for Prarie dog shooting,I removed the crank and replaced it with a Jam nut.Now I drive it with a power screwdriver, and 9/16 scoket.I Didn't need an additional cutter to accomadate 20 cal.

Got a Wilson, but ONLY use it when its for a cartridge I dont have a collet for in my Giraud. And if I have to trim more than say 20 cases, I get a collet for the Giraud! I am spoiled, I guess....but I will never go back to handcranking a trimmer for more than 20 pcs!

Giraud.

That is what replaced my Wilson

Same here. The Wilson works great, but can't match the speed of the Giraud, which trims, deburs and chamfers cases at a rate of about fifteen a minute. The Giraud's a bit pricey, but it sure speeds things up. My Wilson's been gathering dust ever since... let me know if you're interested in a used one.

I'd like to see that proved or disproved. That's one case every four seconds trimmed, deburred, and chamfered.

Man, that is impressive! I hadn't even heard of this, but it is definitely worth looking into since I've been thinking about a new case trimmer. Is the only advantage to the Giraud the speed? Not that that's not reason enough to buy one, but I'm curious. A machine that trims, deburrs and chafmers all in one step sounds like just the ticket!

Like the old drag racer said "Kid, speed costs money. Hof fast do you want to go?" If volume is an issue, just spend the dollars.

Ear plugs and powder free latex examination gloves ( to help with grip and keeping stuff off your fingers ) are "the go" with the Giraud trimmer. BTW their service is "bench-source standard"

Hello all are the collets hard to change and is it difficult to setup from one case to another thanks Mark

They are very easy to change, and it takes just a few minutes to go from one case to another, provided you purchase a cutter assembly for both. If you choose to use one cutter assem for all, it will take a little while to get the blade set up correctly. Not hard, just tedious.
