case mouth expanded too much

How would one fix a case mouth that was expanded too much. While figuring out how to set up my first ACP pistol die set, I set the expander too low and expanded the top 1/3 of the case. Only did it to 2 cases before I figured out my mistake so I can easily waste 2 cases, but this led me to the question, is there some way of re-sizing these to fix the over-expansion?

If they can still go inside the sizer/decapper die, lube up (if not carbide dies) and just size them back.

adjust the expander slowly down, you just need enough to have a flat base bullet to sit straight and not shaved by the case

Tap case mouth with plastic hammer , if case will not go into both size and seat dies. Then size & expand as normal.

45 ACP? For 2 pieces of brass, I'd just toss them. Not worth the effort of trying to salvage them (and I'm one that will hunt down every findable piece of my brass from the range floor...)

Take it as a lesson in die setup and move on.

Get a Lyman type "M" expander and not overwork the case mouth.

Below I just bump the case mouth onto step "B" that is .001 to .002 larger than the bullet diameter. This normally allows the bullet to be started into the case mouth with just your fingers.

I have type "M" expanders for every pistol and rifle caliber I have. This greatly aids straight inline seating reducing bullet tilt and runout.
