Case head separation

I think I'm pretty content with 12 firings. I KNOW I'm happy I caught a problem before it ruined a range day, as an OTR truck driver I don't get enough of those! So I will likely heed that advice and scrap the next batch of FC at 10 firings.
When I can get 8 or 9 firings on my 7 mm Rem Mag brass (Winchester), I feel pretty good. It becomes too thin at the base with the load I run, sizing method, etc. to get a dozen safe loads. Remington and Federal brass probably just a firing or two less than that, I'm sure.

Hornady brass has its place. Not in competition, but great for hunting(don't care if you lose it), and learning to reload(after buying factory Match ammo).
Lots of folks on this site really rag on Federal brass (or most everything that isn't Lapau at times...), but that brass, like all the less-expensive commercial brass does have a place, as you say. I don't think I bought my first Lapua brass until 15 years after I started reloading, when I got my first 6PPC in the early 80's. I never missed it before then.
