Case forming question

So sizing 30-06 to 338-06 I've always sized up using a standard 338-06 full length sizing die but now I have an expander mandrel die and mandrels.
Would I be better off using the expander mandrel? Are there any pros or cons to doing it either way?

Good info and that's what I was thinking.just never tried it before and thought folks where using the mandrel dies to do this .thx

Not sure how you sized up before, but an expander mandrel is ideal.

A qtip with a bit of lube makes it effort less.

Good deal.ive always necked up in standard dies.
I was going to f/l size some then run mandrel through the them but got to thinking why am I going to do this when I could possibly just run them over expander mandrel but wanted to here it from y'all before wasting some new brass and figured it would be easier on brass any way

New brass may have a very small inside diameter. I'd run a 30 cal thru first to open it a little before using the 338. Or maybe a 32 if you have one.
