Case filling funnels

I use the Area 419 also, but the downside is if you need an oddball caliber (8mm) you have to pony up $35.00 + shipping. Fortunately at my age I'll never use the 338 so I sleeved it to 8mm and all is well. Wish they'd let you choose your own calibers instead of "here's what you're getting" for your $100.00.

I'm using a Satern for .223 and a bored out Lee for 6.5 and bigger. Seems to work fine, and just opening it up that little bit made bridging all but disappear.

Picked up a rack and selection of Xtreme Hardcore Gear funnels. Wouldn't fit my 20 TCM?
Sent them a note and asked about modifying them to fit my needs?
Couldn't be bothered!!!:mad: (I wasn't looking for a free lunch) I ALWAYS pay my way.
Shipped those suckers back as fast as I could.
Picked up a set from Hart. More issues of them not fitting BUT, they bent over backwards to fix the problem AND at no cost to me. (that was unexpected);)
As far as Xtreme Hardcore Gear? You don't bother to take care of your customers? You won't have any. And EVERYBODY will know how you were treated, be it good OR bad.:(

I’ve got several old aluminum funnels that Pacific had many years ago. One 22 to 270 and one 270 on up to I know at least 45. I keep my eye out for them at gun shows. Never paid more than $2.50 for any of them, including my original one I bought in 1965.
Burnt powder, I too have an old Pacific, but it only goes down to 24 caliber. I grabbed it by mistake for some 223 cases a while back and made a mess.

Thanks everyone for the overwhelming response(s). I looked at all the higher end stuff and had sticker shock, hence the question about Lyman. I figured this would be the place to ask. Seems I need to do more research besides price. Or, go to the barn and start carving out my own.

I bought the Lyman set about 5-6 months ago. No mishaps so I'm happy. Matter of fact I went on ahead and got 4 more of the inserts to cover all my different calibers.

I love the Xtreme Hardcore funnel's,I have a .224 and .264. But,I also wanted a .256-.277-.284,and .308 funnels. At close to $30 each,I just bought one of the Lyman sets for $25 off Amazon. It was delivered today.
That is one heavy funnel, and I'll be cutting the handle off it also.

I use Satern funnels that are caliber specific. The Are 419 stuff looks good too.
I moved on from Saturn .. I had one separate the aluminum from the brass. I use the Extreme Hardcore Gear funnels now. I have found that there is no one size fits all. I buy caliber specific.

I use the Xtreme Hardcore Gear Funnels. I have tried the multi funnels and don't care for them. Have a bunch of adapters that can get lost, most are not used.

With the Xtreme, I can choose the caliber I need, not what they want to sell me, it stays in place, has a very smooth finish and drains completely and quickly. I don't see myself using anything else. Buy once, cry once and enjoy. Something I am learning.

I'm about to move on myself. The Satern seems to work best with extruded powders but hates the ball powders as they collect at the joint. The idea of the Satern is good, it's just not executed as well as I'd hoped.

Has anyone tried the caliber specific funnels, with the interchangeable ends from Lyman, and if so, are they any good?

I have a set. I like it. It is quite heavy, but the semi-polished interior seems to bridge a little less than the Area 419 funnel with the flat anodizing. Doesn't look as good as the 419 though.

Edit to add: I use both regularly; don't really have a preference either way.

I use the 21st Century funnels with 6" drop tubes. If you just want an inexpensive funnel that will get the powder in the case, I wouldn't agonize over the choices too much, there are many that will work just fine. I chose the 21st Century funnels for several reasons. I like having a slightly longer drop tube (although not super long) to help with efficient packing of kernels in the case. I like one with a clear drop tube, so I can actually see what's going on with the kernels in the tube. Finally, their aluminum funnels are very nice and will last a lifetime. Decide what you really want out of a funnel and it might make the choice a little simpler.

I have two Saturn funnels and the lyman set. The Lyman is heavy but work for my purposes.. If I hant bought it I would get the 419 set.. But Sheel's had the Lyman when I was there. A spontaneous buy..

Ramblerman- you seem to fall into the same category I do. Take 127 hours to save a handful of hard earned coin. I bought $20 worth of SS and aluminum that I used to build an arbor press with some other odds and ends I had lying about. It was a nice, interesting project to while away a long Sunday afternoon, but hey, I didn't pay $100 for a ready made one, lol.

Exactly brother...it was satisfying...but if anyone was to ask for one like it, I'd hand them a $20 bill and say "let me tell ya about one I saw online." Hahaha
