Cartridge help for first custom

Fixing to order an action and I'm torn between a few choices. I currently shoot a 284 win with 180 Hybrids and really enjoy the ballistics, but I'm debating to stick with the 284 or move down to a 6.5x47L or Creedmoor. The thought of not running a brake seems nice, but I'm not 100% sure I wouldn't end up braking either of the 6.5's. My shooting is mostly steel at distances up to 1200yds with the hope of getting into tactical and positional shooting in the future. The 3 mentioned are the only ones I'm really interested in, and would like the input of you guys.

I would think the straight .284 might be a better choice due to the distances you are shooting.I dont know the ballistic values of the 6.5x47 although I here rave reviews of the accuaracy of that cartridge and the fact you can buy lapua brass. The creedmoor is a real shooter but you are stuck with hornady brass.

I am looking seriously at the 6.5 SLR as shown on 6mmar.com. I mention this because I am also looking at the Creedmoor but hard time deciding between the Creedmoor, 6.5x47 Lapua, and the 6.5 SLR.
Best wishes whatever you end up with but would like to hear which cartridge and why you picked it if you would.

Snatched up a Bartlein 6.5mm 8 twist varmint contour blank today, so it looks like its gonna be a 6.5 something. Still unsure of creedmoor vs 47L, I lean towards the CM but find myself coming up with reasons to just go 47L.
