Cartridge Guide

I have a 6mm Remington. I've been looking at the Cartridge Guide on the home page and think its a cool idea. Here's my question. If I want to try some different loads I could load to the 243 specs and it would be like a light load? Or I could load a little hotter. What would you increase if you bumped up the 243 loads? Oh, please make a 6mm Remington Catridge Guide so I can share some of your knowledge:)

I can't say if light 243win loads will work in the 6mm Rem as I only have a 243, but I'd be very careful,, no,, let me re-phrase that,, I WOULD NOT go under a minimum charge weight for the case you're using. Too light a load can cause massive pressure in the case, and very bad things can result from this. Be safe,, and don't mess around with your safety to try and save 50 rounds of barrel life.

Chris...

I often use the max listed .243 loads as fire-forming or starting loads for my .243AI, so my GUESS would be that top-end .243 loads would be a reasonable starting point for your 6mmRem.

I have also found that the load that gives top velocity in the .243, but with less than best accuarcy, becomes a well-behaved, accurate load in the .243. You might see the same in 6mm Rem.
