Cartridge change

I have a 7.62x39 magazine fed bolt action rifle that I use for competition shooting out to 200m and would like to change to a more competiton friendly round as projectiles are limited for the 7.62x39, what would I be able to change to and still be able to use the 10 round mag feed? I can change the barrel to 6 or 6.5mm if needed or put a new 30cal barrel in it. what else would I need to do to get a better round

Badger1,

The 6.5 grendel is shot in a AR15. It should work from your mag.It made from the 6 PPC should work for your bolt face.

Or my 30 Major. It's a Grendel necked up to a 30 cal. Very efficient and shoots awesome!

What kind of competition?---Mike Ezell

Thanks for the help all,I will look at both cartridges. I shoot open service rifle competition. Here in OZ we dont have the range of semi auto rifles like the AR15 or M14 to use for Service rifle as S/A is banned. Most people use the old SMLE in either 303, 7.62x39 or 5.56 conversions which are approved for standard Service Rifle or any sporter rifle/caliber for open class SR. The rifle I am using is the Australian International Arms which is a newly manufactured copy of the No5 jungle carbine.
