I would ask the barrel maker. LarryGot a friend that wants to use my viper vise to remove break from his gun. Will the vise do damage to the carbon wrap anyone try this?
You don't need a barrel vice to remove a brake.Got a friend that wants to use my viper vise to remove break from his gun. Will the vise do damage to the carbon wrap anyone try this?
What if it is stuck from not being serviced? You don't need a barrel vice to remove a brake.
According to the makers this stuff it's supposed to be stronger and stiffer than steel....and you are worried about putting it in a vice. If it's that fragile I wouldn't want it as a barrel.Got a friend that wants to use my viper vise to remove break from his gun. Will the vise do damage to the carbon wrap anyone try this?
Is the brake screwed onto the barrel?Fellas I'm not worried about it,it's not mineIt is a brand new Christensen arms rifle has not been shot brand new.Larry that's what I told him make a call guess we will learn what happens this weekend.
YesIs the brake screwed onto the barrel?
Tell your friend to unscrew it. If the rifle is new, it should be simple to remove it, as long as he turns it in the correct direction.
GuyDoesn't the barrel have a steel section at each end? If so, can't you clamp onto that?
Nope not gonna do it lol!! Larry I have told him to make the call so if he wants to learn the hard way so be it I've already told him several times.Guy
Just contact the barrel maker or the smith.
Larry
Lefty loosy righty tightly right.I will try it before he puts it in the vise,I told him to grab some soft grip pliers from the depot.Tell your friend to unscrew it. If the rifle is new, it should be simple to remove it, as long as he turns it in the correct direction.
Doesn't the brake contain holes/slots? Use a punch or screwdriver to remove it. Slide the tool through the brake and unscrew it. No need to grasp it on the outside and foul-up the finish.Lefty loosy righty tightly right.I will try it before he puts it in the vise,I told him to grab some soft grip pliers from the depot.
If you can pit a punch all the way through the brake a and give it a firm hammer blow on the punch . If you have help have someone apply press in the loose direction and then hit the punch . Works like a air gun they have a hammer in them . Good luck LarryLefty loosy righty tightly right.I will try it before he puts it in the vise,I told him to grab some soft grip pliers from the depot.
From what I see on their website, there's only about a 1/4" of steel on the muzzle end.Doesn't the barrel have a steel section at each end? If so, can't you clamp onto that?
This will work, also put the barreled action in a vise and put the punch thru the muzzle break, if it turns strong enough to unthread the barrel from the action, you'll be half way on your way to making it betterIf you can pit a punch all the way through the brake a and give it a firm hammer blow on the punch . You only made the problem get bigger . How do you put the barrel back on? LarryThis will work, also put the barreled action in a vise and put the punch thru the muzzle break, if it turns strong enough to unthread the barrel from the action, you'll be half way on your way to making it better![]()
