Carbide sizing button kit

"The Redding Carbide Size Button Kit makes inside neck sizing smoother and easier without lubrication. Now you can upgrade any Redding Full Length, Neck or Type S sizing die. Available for bottle neck cartridges 20 thru 338 cal. The carbide size button is free floating on the decapping rod allowing it to self-center in the case neck."

Do you use this with your Redding Full length or neck type " bushing" S Sizing die? Pro and con???
Thanks for any info.

I use them on my Redding dies.

Pros: they do come through the neck more smoothly than a standard expander

Cons: you can't reduce the diameter like you can with a standard expander, they cost money

What really helps is to lube the inside of the case neck and limit how much you undersize the neck during sizing. I do both of those and with the carbide expander it comes back through the neck so smoothly you can hardly feel it.

Will they work with standard RCBS dies?

Will they work with standard RCBS dies?

I don't think so, I remember reading somewhere that they work only with Redding FL or Redding S type " bushing"
Die??
Any one, please correct me if I'm wrong!

You can make them work with almost any brand of die.
You may have to change the decapping rod bushing and decapping rod and use a smaller button to retain the carbide button.
Both Redding and Pacific used to market a kit that could be used to switch the expander button on Redding dies and I have used it on some RCBS dies too.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but go to this thread and read through it:

I use bushing dies without an expander button for all my bolt guns, but for an AR I use small base dies, to be sure I get all the cases sized so they will chamber.
Are small base bushing dies even made? I don't think I've ever checked.
