carbibe tool grinder ?

I need a good grinder for sharpening my carbide cutting bits . My buddy found a Baldor with diamond wheel and it really is nice for getting the right angles on your cutting tools . I am in Texas and would like to drive and pick one up . Anyone know of one to buy ? Thx! Mark

I don't know your budget or your work volume, but this one from Enco isn't bad, especially for $340. You can add better wheels, but it comes with green grinding wheels. They aren't nearly as good as diamond but come in handy for rough grinding of carbide...and are cheap.

or MSC should have them, too.--Mike

Do either of the two mentioned have reverse? Might be something you want. Just throwing it out there.

Yes ( reverse ) its the same tool . We have 2 in the shop one from enco ,one from Harbor freight , identical ,but for $

A must have tool....I use mine all the time to touch up cemented carbide tool bits. Mine is an old Rockwell I picked up at an auction for $220.

Keep an eye on craigslist and local tool auctions...

yes ! After grinding all my bits on a cheap grinder with a green stone , my friend gets a used Baldor with diamond wheel and sharpens some of his cutting bits for his lathe . Wow! I did not know what I had been missing . I have found a Rockwell used for 375 with a brake, I think that I might get it instead of one the chinese units . thx! Mark

Yep....the brake is nice to stop and reverse in a hurry. The Rockwell is one heck of a machine!

well ! still looking cant get the delta rockwell seller to send any picks. he said he was busy. 4 days ago, still no pics . i might have to settle for a tiawan .

Enco is due to put out a decent coupon...sign up for email coupons if you aren't already. 20% off anything plus free shipping is nice for a grinder. Cyber Monday is close, they usually offer something....

well ! i got some pics of the delta rockwell and it was a nice machine . looks like i will be buying it . thx for all the info and replies . Mark

I have the Rockwell. You will find that it is a rebadged Baldor. I love mine. I was fortunate to be able to buy it from a High School machine shop going out of business. What few parts I needed came from Baldor.

have not got it yet , but should get it by next week . I have started getting my lathe tools ready for doing some smithing and really need a grinder to fine tune them . cant wait till I have a nice machine and can do it the right way . I did all my tool grinding on a cheap grinder with a green wheel when I was learning how to run a lathe . I learned on a 9A south bend lathe and know have upgraded to a nice heavy 10 . thx ! Mark
