i am on my cell phone because i cant log into the forums on my laptop or pc. i can get to the home page but no farther. everything else is fine. i can go werever else i want on the web. my laptop is top notch so i just dont understand. the diagnostics say nothing is wrong? windows doesnt find any problems either. what the heck do i need to do? please help! send me an email or call me if you have ever had this happen here. sorry for putting this on this page i just need some help. thanks lee gleegardner@yahoo.com or 217 246 0787 thanks lee

No problem Skeetlee. In case others are having this issue (I also did), seems like several internet service providers are all of the sudden having trouble resolving the IP address of the forum. No problem getting to the parent site 6mmbr.com but when you attempt to go to the forum, you get a DNS error address not found. At first I thought the forum was down, but when I could connect with a different service provider, I knew the issue was not with this site or my machine. Makes me wonder if we are being censored here.
Please don’t attempt this work-around unless you know what you are doing:
Add the sites IP address to the end of the “hosts” file located in the “c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc” directory:
69.73.159.184 www.accurateshooter.com

I have the same problem as describe. Mostly occurs in the early afternoon.Don't think I have the savy to fix it though. Ron
I had the same problem last week. I just ran a defrag on my computer and it has worked fine ever since!

Thanks to TheSnake and others who have helped out. This is a problem we haven't been able to replicate. The DNS is set up correctly.
One issue that can cause problems is if the "cookie" file that remembers your ID for the forum gets corrupted on YOUR computer. I suggest you log-out every week or so then log back in. Remember the password is case sensitive now.
The other thing that can help is to dump the cache on your browser. If one of the forum files is corrupted on your browser this will force it to reload. The forum will be a bit slower 'til all the files load, then it should go back to normal.
I am going to discuss the odd issues that have come about. I've noticed that Firefox has some big problems. I recently DOWN-graded from 3.6 to 3.0 because I was getting "site not found" errors even with big sites such as Ebay. That problem disappeared by going back to Firefox 3.0.

Guys please understand this is a mysterious thing which seems to be ISP related. I'm no magician. Every time we test access, everything runs OK.
Some people have hounded me with 6 or more messages a day complaining about access. Hey, this is a FREE forum and I'm doing the best I can, answering these emails. But if it was as simple as throwing a switch that would have been done. Please just calm down. There's just ONE guy trying to run this whole operation. I don't have full server access until Monday. I can't provide answers if people can't identify their own ISP or what browser they are running.
For one guy the problem was simply that he was trying to type in his password with the CAPs Lock on. (passwords are case sensitive).

We have identified an intermittent DNS resolution issue. This has hopefully been corrected last night. We are also debugging some scripts and installing a cache. These things should speed up the forum, hopefully.
Be aware that there are some issues with the latest version of Firefox that can cause some 404 (not found) faults. I suggest you "downgrade" to Firefox 3.06 or use Chrome browser.
