The 10 day Canadian National Fullbore Championships wound up Saturday Aug 21. Over that length of time, a wide variety of weather occured at the Connaught Ranges in Ottawa. Anyone who hung in there for 4 matches a day from 300 to 900 metres (330 to 990 yds) certainly deserved the win.
Saturday the 21st, the top 10 F Class shooters from the 10 days shot 2 sighters and 15 on score at 800 and 900 metres on the DCRA 5 ring target with 1/2 minute V-ring. Five ring is one minute. Perfect score would be 150-30V.
In F(Open), Dawie Westhuizen of Sunland, South Africa took first with a 146-3V on a damp, windy range. An excellent effort. Canadians gladly lent the South African team a variety of rests and other equipment. Anything they bought in Canada has to stay here because of the S.A. gun laws.
Canadian Barry Price of Ontario was second F(O) with 144-8V.
In F/TR, Jeff Rorer of Winterville, North Carolina took first with 143-11V. It was fun talking to Jeff and his buddies Dale and Darrel from Team Savage all week long. A great bunch of good ol` boys.
Second F/TR was Canadian Matt Wolf of New Brunswick with 141-12V.
