Can you identify this caliber?

I am trying to identify this caliber of a gun that someone is selling. The gun started as 22 Hornet and was rechambered according to the seller. He bought the gun rechambered and not sure what the caliber is. The brass on the left is what came out after the seller fired standard 22 Hornet round through this gun. Thank you for your inputs!

Here is some close figures from the base to the bottom of the shoulder 1.151 to the top of the shoulder 1.181 1.378 oal . I think you have a old wild cat for the Hornet. You make it from fire forming a regular hornet just like the case you have. All hornets are head spaced off the rim.

Have you checked the 218 bee imp . Looks like one of my 218 imp , but my rim is still 218 size. That bulge is not what a good rechamber looks like . What are the measurements at the bulge , and shoulder ?

Not sure what its been rechambered to, but judging by the base and the ring about .100" back on the neck I dont think the hornet is the parent case anymore. Might want to make a chamber cast and take some precise measurements for comparison. I dont I would fire anymore hornets in that chamber, that base looks very sketchy

Without the case in hand it's hard to tell but the shoulder looks like an AI shoulder. It might be a 221 fireball AI or a 222 AI reamer held short. Did the case extract OK? Does the bolt face still fit the Hornet rim? No way I'd fire any more Hornet cases in that chamber. That's too much expansion above the rim.

By the way , what type of gun is it ? I it was near me at the range when firing , I would MOVE .
Please be safe , do not fire again .

I recognized the cartridge immediately. Used extensively in the 2nd Boer war in Martini-henry improved rifles. It was known as the 220 loudenfartenboomer. So named for the deafening noise made when the cases split wide open upon ignition, propelling the bolt through the eye socket of the hapless Boers. :o ........ HONEST!

I would definitely not fire hornet brass in that chamber you need to take a chamber cast and not be guessing. that bulge at the base is extreme. if the case were to rupture you would get a face full of hot burned powder. please be safe!
