..can you have too many rifles???.....

..lol...

wow...what a past couple of weeks....it all started when I opened my gun safe to do some semi-annual maintenance...

what's this...in the back of the gun safe...hmmn....a S/S 30.5" Bartlein 6.5mm barrel, 1.25" Straight, 1:8 twist...

..so I call my gunsmith who has my custom 6.5x61Super Reamer and ask him if he would install this barrel on my current 1,200 yard counter-sniper rifle [note: I have about 80 rounds through this barrel...more later]. No problem, easy..peasy...

so now what to do with the current 30" Pac-Nor that is installed on the 6.5x61Super......initially I was trying to get some-sort of 6mm - 6.5mm conversion on my AR15.....my gunsmith could do the work, however I would have to buy a custom bolt/bolt extension, etc..etc..

I ended up finding a 20" Krieger barrel in 6PDK [6mmx6.8 SPC], bolt, and a bunch of brass here on 6mmBR.

Also I sold my .204 Ruger Barrel/bolt, and gas block on another forum.....to help with the finances to help fuel my ADDICTIONS....amazing how we do "creative financing"..lol...

....okay...so now I have an "extra" barrel.....30" Pac-Nor 1.25" 6.5mm.....you still with me...I'll get back to this in a little bit....

Three days ago I get on gunbroker.....looking at 10/22 Magnum rifles......$750 - $800!!!!.....what?......and guess what?.....I just so happen to have a 10/22 Mag sitting in the back of the gun safe....collecting dust..haven't seen the light of day in who knows how many years!!

.....so yeah....I list it...and that baby is gonna sell....

so....I call my gunsmith again!...this morning, if any of you guys know Jim Caudill, a.k.a. The Mauser Man, you know that his work is impeccable.....we start to talking and now I have found a home for the "extra" barrel = the Pac-Nor...

..well..check that, why not keep the Pac-Nor on the 6.5x61Super AND chamber the new Bartlein for ANOTHER rifle build?

yup...you guessed it, call my gunsmith AGAIN...put the brakes on the re-barrel of the 6.5x61Super...

so now we are taking the 30" Bartlein 6.5mm and going for a 260 REM AI....in a Mauser Action and a Boyd's Thumbhole Stock.....now I just need to find some eyes for it!

..btw....good thing I have 1,000 139 grain Lapua Scenars!!! 8) 8)

Re: ..can you have too many rifles???....there will be a QUIZ at the end!!!

Hey, your talking to the guy that still has every rifle that he ever acquired, going back to the single shot model 68 Winchester his grandfather gave him at age 6....

Short answer, no, there's no such thing as too many. ;D

I have sold 2 or traded off 3 of the pistols I've gotten over the years, but rifles are more like family and pistols are more like tools....

And I do laugh a bit every time I look at the inventory list I started a few years ago. And I also remember that my wife has NO idea what the hardware listed in some of those many line items cost, fortunately.

That's why you want all your guns to look pretty much the same as 3 or 4. ;D
