Can you chamber short?

My next barrel once I receive my new action (ARC Nucleus) I'm going to go down the .243 win path. I'm going to be using Lapua or Peterson brass. More than likely Lapua. When chambering, have any of you chambered somewhat short to prevent brass from moving to much when firing? Instead of having to fire the brass to completely fireform 2x it can be used straight out of the box. What are your thoughts on this? I'm moving from a 6 Comp Match to a 243 to prevent having to fireform.

On a 243 with a correctly headspaced chamber not cut short you can run your 243 brass thru your fl die and shoot it. No fireforming necessary

Would you rather chamber your rifle to fit your brass, every time you change lots.

Or form your brass to fit your chamber?

It can be done, but not real practical.

I think you'll find that your brass is not growing that much when forming to your chamber. I see your reasoning but I think you're just digging the "rabbit hole" a little deeper.
I had a chance to get a little perspective on my current favorite gun situation and how far I've gone down the rabbit hole. An old friend came into town and stopped in for a visit. Wanting to have some fun, I asked if he'd like to go shooting, as we used to hunt together back in the day. I spent some time showing him some of my stock work and new builds then started pulling guns we could shoot. He looked at me and asked why we weren't taking any of my "favorites". I said I didn't have any ammo loaded for them. He said we should just stop by the store and buy some, his treat.;) I had to explain to him about "wildcats", tight neck chambers, short throats, custom bullets, exact powder charges, etc. He just looked at me, astonished. " You have all these guns but you can't shoot them unless you spend hours and hours making shells for them?" Yes, I had to admit.o_O
