can Trail Boss be used for everything?

I've never used TB in a magnum, but Dusty I would have to think case fill would be alot better with TB. I know it's somewhat mythical, but Bullseye could create conditions for a secondary explosion effect.
I use it for mouse fart 300 BLK loads in a single shot or bolt action. I'ts super quiet.

Yes case fill would be better but thats not the point i was trying to make. Clays would have better case fill than bullseye but not as good as trail boss- that doesnt make trail boss suitable for anything bigger than a 30-30 just like varget has better fill but not the best choice for a 338lm

For making reduced loads in anything, Trail Boss is pretty good. As VV Tin Star.
Not to sure about 338 LM as it would still use a bunch to make a reduced load:D
I just dislike powder laying horizontal in the case - personal preferance. I had a buddy that had a SEE, but it was due to powder choice and barrel wear due to powder coating. Ugly.
I'm just speaking of reduced loads here, and the somewhat odd way "normal" powders react when ignited on the horizontal.

I'm currently kicking ass with a 38spl Trailboss load in our local gallery pistol league. An old timer told me to try it and I was like WOW that stuff shoots stupid accurate. Currently trying in other handguns, too cold to try the rifles yet...

My experience is that TB is great for light plinking loads, but lacks the shot-to-shot consistency needed for precision work. For precision loads, H4895 or Blue Dot tend to be better choices. Of course bullet weight and cartridge matter a lot when selecting a powder for light loads, and finding published light loads with Blue Dot can be tricky.

i use trail boss in my 375H&H for fun loads. we cronied a 270gr and i am prety sure it was @1200fps? now that is a guess , if i recall we were comparing it to a 44 mag load!

would you mind sharing your load with us?
38 spl Federal case, 148gr DEWC (Missouri coated) wad cutter with no lube, CCI small pistol primer and 2.3gr of Trailboss powder. Kicks like a pellet gun and is really weird to shoot but it blows me away on how accurate it is. These are fired out of a Smith Performance Center 686+ 5 inch barrel revolver. I have LabRadar data on the velocity but its at home. Please keep in mind that our gallery league is only 50 feet indoors but these shoot one large hole if I can keep still.

Info added: Velocity 625 fps and seated to 1.230 with light/medium roll crimp.
