Can I use CCI 450 primers for .223 ?

I primed a few cases with cci 450 by mistake. Can I use these? I normally use GM 205, BR-4 or cci 400

Indeed you can. They are my go to small rifle primer for almost everything. I may find some other primer shoots better for a particular load, but they usually shoot very well for every small rifle case cartridge I have (and that is a lot of them).

I did that on purpose (with all those listed primers) while testing loads in a custom built STTAR15 .223/5.56. No issues while trying to determine which primer (or if it made a difference in that rifle) worked the best.

thanks.

If the 450's are fine I guess I can reduce the types of primers I stock and just buy the 450 and drop the 400's

This also made me realize I am low on primers. Need to get cracking and get some more.

That's one of the reasons I use 450's. Just makes the loading bench less crowded. Also I believe that Varget and 450's were made for each other. Kind of like 69 gr. Serria's and the .223
