Camera for Target Cam

I am wanting to build a target cam and I am wanting to use a camcorder as the camera. The issue I am having is finding one that does not put menu overlays on the remote screen (composite video out). I don't want the remote monitor to show "recording" or "standby" or "battery level", or a red recording dot, etc., just the picture. Overlays will block part of the target. I was going to use a Canon VIXIA HF R600. but Canon tech support said that menu overlays would be shown on the remote monitor for all VIXIA cameras (except in play mode). I would like one that records to a card rather than tape. Does anyone know of a camera that I could use for this?

Thanks,
Dave

If you are going this route, (and keeping in mind that I don't know what components you already have nor what your goals are regading using a camcorder), you would generally be far better served to go with an IP camera, PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) ideally.

You'll end up with a more flexible system and (IMO) easier to cart around/deal with.

WRT camcorders, it's been a long time since I've dealt with one directly so I can't help much there.
