California pistol laws?

I am joining the navy and live in Illinois. When I get assigned to my duty station, I a
Worried about Cali. I know their gun laws are crazy and unamerican, which is why I am asking. I have handguns now, as well as long guns, but i don't not know California's handgun laws. Would I have to sell my current pistols? I am not a fan of modifying my handguns. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I wouldn't mind buying a "modified gun", just wondering what I need to do with my current handguns? Is there a mag round limit? I know there is a key mag rules I just don't know if it's certain pistols or all auto pistols.

All true and as absurd as you imply. However, we also have five 1000 yard ranges in California and more competitive shooters than any other state. Jerry Brown, loopy as he is, actually vetoed several of the crazier gun laws. I'm no fan of Jerry, but Andrew scares me.

Not sure how your Military service effects anything but I think that you will have to register your guns with the state. You should go to calguns.net and get some info over there. Pretty savvy folks.

BikeEffects is correct. You have a certain period of time to register them all. Semis or revolvers. - Phil

watch out if you live on a military base, you have to follow their rules. In many cases they store your guns and ammo for you.
