Calhoons 19's

Anyone shoot one of Calhoon's 19's? I am gettin ideas about something new, just curious if anyone has one. Specifically the 19-223. But would like to hear about any of em.

I have a Calhoon 19/223 built on a CZ action. It is a great rifle and very accurate. I shoot the Calhoon Double HP bullets in 34gr. It is very flat shooting and hits hard with no recoil. It has killed a lot of ground squirrels here in CA. I tried the plastic tipped bullets he sells, but they were not as accurate for me. I highly recommend this cal.

Thanx for the reply Robert. I have a CZ 527 in 222 that may end up as a Calhoon 19. It looks like it is almost as cost efficient to buy one from him already built as to convert my CZ..

FWIW:
Word is that James Calhoon is retiring soon, if not already. Supposedly a company has made an offer to buy James' outfit. Before I spend money converting a gun I'd want to be reeeealllly sure that the one any only bullet source will continue to exist.

Check it out on Saubier.com, there are people on the site that have
talked to Calhoon recently about the future of his company. There
have been several rumors about a sale and even about his bullets
being available from another company. None of that is true according
to owner.

I have had a Calhoon built CZ 19-223 for about 10 years, it's a great rifle. I've killed a lot of coyotes with it. It shot great with the preloaded ammo that James sells, but I shoot my hand loads in it now. My buddy also has a 19-223, it is in the HS stock, it's also a great shooter.
