Cabella's Scopes

Well, I sold them a T/C contender in 17HMR that had there caliber specific scope on it. They didn't want the scope even tho it was one of theirs!! Make of that what you will.

I don't buy cheap scopes and believe you get what you pay for. My grandson and dad are buying for his starter rifle, and have been told this sales pitch. But I've never seen the scopes and know nothing about them.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the new cabelas scope made by vortex?? Agreed that most of cabelas scopes are not high end,

But this one looks different. Not a cheap scope at $800, but not expensive compared to others. I've been looking for something very similar to this scope for awhile. Exposed turrets, good glass, and more importantly lighter than my standard scopes, mainly NF.

I may have to take the plunge and get one. I handled one in the store. I really like the feel of the turrets in the store, very positive, with decent effort to move., can't comment of the glass. weights 22 ounces,

Was really looking at the new vortex LH, this looks like the LH, but with 30mm tube and exposed turrets, heavier though

An FYI: I got an email from Cabela's and they're branded items are on sale, 20% off. Promo is 16SAVINGS online or in store.

It's a great mystery who has been sources Cabelas scopes. I'm better it's from a bunch of different vendors.

In regards to the Vortex/Cabelas partnership, that one is pretty new. Defiantly a different animal than the other Cabelas scopes. I am actually quite intrigued by it. Based on it's description at Vortex's website, I suspect it will have better glass than the Viper PSTs as it's listed as having High Density glass. Until now only the razor line (and the golden eagle) were listed as having HD glass.

The high end Cabelas Instinct Euro HD rifle scopes are made by Meopta and I guarantee that glass will outperform ANYTHING Vortex has to offer. Razor HD or not. I would bet anything you want that the Meopta HD glass will draw in more light and allow you to view well into low light hours long after Vortex Razor HD glass has faded away. I know this from the experience of owning both types of glass, Razor HD spotter and binos, and Meopta Meostar HD spotter and binos. It's all Meopta HD for me now and the Vortex Razor optics have new owners.

I've toyed with the Cabelas Instinct Euro HD rifle scopes and the glass is top tier quality. Only issue I have with the Meopta made scopes is their lack of features. Don't have very much elevation adjustment or magnification range. But I'm sure they'll come around and join the crowd eventually. Until then, Vortex definitely wins in the rifle scope 'features' department. That being said, there are certain scope features that are very important to me, so for now, I do not own a Meopta HD rifle scope.

The Meopta Meostar HD S2 spotting scope (aka: Cabelas Instinct Euro HD spotting scope, and aka: Nightforce TS-82 spotting scope) has already proven in many reviews, including my own experience from currently owning one, that its glass equals and/or surpasses the quality of Swarvoski HD glass with similar objective sizes and magnification settings. The Meopta Meostar HD binocular glass is no different when compared to Swarovski binoculars and the glass quality is maintained throughout the Meopta high end HD rifle scopes as well.

Now there are cheaper model Cabelas scopes that are nowhere near the Meopta made Instinct Euro HD glass quality, but I do not know who makes them. So don't mistake ALL cabelas scopes for junk because if the Cabelas scope has Meopta HD glass, it's top shelf stuff.

Also do not confuse the Meopta 'Meopro' HD glass with the 'Meostar' HD glass. Though the Meopro HD glass is very impressive as well, the Meostar is the top quality in their offerings.
