C.R. Joines 40XBR in 222

I picked up a rifle today. It is a Remington 40XBR in 222. It is marked C.R. Joines on the barrel. Anyone have any idea on Mr. C.R. Joines. I googled and had seen a couple of rifles that had the same barrel markings.

I figured someone would know who Mr. C.R. Joines was. Custom rifle builder, competition shooter, early benchrester, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

I have a couple of his rifles, he knows how to put one together. He was a very competitive benchrest shooter at one time. Let us know how it shoots. Good Luck!

Thank you Sir for the info. Looking forward to it. I need to change out the trigger, it was not a 40X trigger.

I just found out from a very good friend that is a world class builder in his own right spoke highly of Mr. Joines. He said that he was very good.

The work that was done is very nice. If I had to guess on the barrel that is on the action may have been a longer 40X barrel. It has been cut down at both ends and is now a 222. I have not shot it, but I am thinking of pulling the barrel and posting it. I just want a little longer barrel than 22". May be a mistake on my part going on the great info I have received about Mr. Joines.

Thanks for the reply,

Tom

I’d at least shoot it and chrono it before swapping barrels. You never know, it might shoot itty bitty….
