Been a while since been on the forum but motivated with my recent attempts at buying in the USA . Seems a lot has changed which I'm sure many of you are well aware of. Cabelas don't seem to have an Oz site and the list of export restricted items seems to have grown exponentially since I last tried to buy stuff from the states on several sites, assuming they will ship internationally in the first place.
Wanted to buy some more projectiles which are now a prohibited export item. checked with Cabelas and some other big sites and yes they Can't leave the country regardless that we can import them legally with proper documentation from here. Having said all that, with the several billion of .223 rounds purchased by Homeland Security , my order was having difficulty anyway, in the States or anywhere here locally or on-line.
Was about to give up after countless searches on the web about this problem and came across Mike and Reloading International. ( http://reloadinginternational.com/catalog/index.php) Check it out and do the numbers. I just saved several hundred dollars including shipping, the cost of the export licence and the AUD dollar being down from last year.
The web page explains it all and Mike is pretty good with the emails, though he has been unusually busy getting his web site updated of late.
It's not a fast process but it does save dollars and they do have stock. Waiting for my tracking number and be interesting if they let it come straight through to my home address without impounding it. Mike includes a copy of your Oz paperwork to hopefully expedite things with our customs.
Will update about how it went coming into the country and any problems I encountered.
Safe hunting!
