Buying Bullets

Does anyone know where I can buy bullets in boxes of 5 to see how they group before buying the whole box? Loaded ammo or for reloading.

Small Twigs N berries...... You are my Boyfriend..... I love to shoot, but I'm not the wealthiest in this world and was wondering if there was a place that offered this. Thanks for your gay response, very helpful!!

Berger used to sell sample packs. Not sure that they still do.

5 bullets isn't going to tell you much though. How do you work the different powder charges with that bullet with only 5-bullets?

Maybe I have this all wrong, are you shooting for 1-hole group size?

No sir... I load a lot of Bergers' and to my knowledge they don't sale a sample pack any longer. Like a lot of other people, I have boxes of bullets that i have tried and ended up not using. So it made me think... Barnes used to sell a box of 20. For the people that don't reload and they shoot factory ammo, do they have 15 rounds left from a box when their 1st 5 shot group was a 3" group at 100 yards and their rifle doesn't like the load? I guess there is not a sampling box of 5 for people to try a particular load.

Even though twigs was a bit harsh, 5 boolets ain't going to tell you much. At least with a box of 50, you can take 10 groups of 5 with different loads and powder and primers. It may be expensive, but it is what it is. I just spent $400 on a few boxes of bullets and 6 lbs of powder. Friggin sport is getting expensive. Heck, I can buy a kickass set of golf clubs for 2k. Most of my guns are 2K plus another 1k in glass. A box of Titleist balls is only 50 bucks.....childs play.

Sample packs of 12 are marketed for exactly what you want to do. Bullet Proof is the company and they were featured on this forum and in
national magazines. The manufacturers are Nosler, Barnes and Berger and not all of their offerings are available. But, the idea seems to have
been considered.

Josh,
Care to tell us what bullets you are looking to try out? Perhaps folks up here can help you out for your testing purposes. May not all be from the same lot anyways until you figure out what bullet works in whatever caliber you are wanting to test in, let alone the bullet weight.

Alex

One option would be to post a WTB: on the reloading forum on your needs. There's always a few boxes going unused on most of our benches.

Our local shop carries 5 bullet packs. I'm not sure who packages them. They carry Berger, Nosler and Barnes. Normally 1-2 of the most popular in in caliber.

May try listing some of the unused bullets you mentioned you have to trade for what you want to try.

5 isn't really enough even if you are very familiar with the round. 20-25 is closer to reality for figuring out if it has some promise.

Well...........unless its a 6BR, then 5 just might be enough. ;)

JOSHHL, Sorry about twiggy, trolls are everywhere.Name the Cal. and bullet you want to try and I bet you will get the help you were looking for.
Later `08 out.
