Buying Bullets
This Thread is more for the 1st year shooter but old shooters need a refresher too. I am talking 22 & 6 bullets here. Somebody might add any info on the larger BR bullets.
In buying bullets for benchrest forget any bullet you would not shoot on your record target. That means set aside your Sierra's, Hornady's, Nosler's, bullets with no name on the box.
My suggestion if you are in your first year of BR with a new barrel is buy a 500 pk of any bullets a vendor like Bruno sells. Any will do. You need to make a commitment and 500 won't last long. If you know you are going to shoot a 100/200 yd range try and shoot 200 as much or more than 100. Do load development at 200 and it will work at 100 as well.
When you get the 500 pack down to 100 ask yourself did you do your best to make those bullets shoot. If you feel you did and your competition got you in the top 10 a few times you might consider staying with that bullet. If you felt that you did all the load development you knew how and aggs weren't coming around buy 500 of another maker. Probably by 2 different bullets you will settle on one.
Keep up the faith most quit in the first couple years. Everybody can find their niche in benchrest. Even the Champions have their own problems.
