Buying an Autotrickler V4: Which scale?

Hey everyone,

I am finally going to pickup an autotrickler after sitting on the fence for many years and I am curious about which scale to use? Is there any appreciable difference between the 120 and 300 scale besides capacity (I think)?

You seem like a patient reloader and since you've been siting on the fence for many years I'd suggest you stay there for another month or so, there could be bunch of them in classifieds as soon as the Ingenuity Precision new system finally hits the streets, you can probably get the Autotrickler and Labradar for pennies on the dollar.

I still use V3 with Ingenuity Precision trickler and I'm VERY happy with that setup, never needed to upgrade to V4 and have zero experience with it but seems like a lot of guys like it
I'd definitely look into IP new system

Thanks. That was my feeling on the scale; delicate item and you don’t know how it was kept/used. Maybe I’ll buy the scale first and see how the trickler situation shakes out.

FX120i and V4--after a year --Love it! Single digit ES --easy as pie to operate--fast enough
It has fixed the powder part of my reloading--I have been able to turn to other aspects for improvement --correct charges are not my problem anymore.
Pretty easy set up to learn--not too many quirks--excellent tech help available fast
It will never be like Labradar--such a solid machine someone will always want them.
Looks like the new kid may be fast--that is great but I can wait 9-10 seconds.
Some folks still whip other shooters with a $50 beam-- I feel like a King with my FX120i

I bought the V4, not disappointed with it, it has some quirks and moods, but, I'd worked with electronic scales long enough, that I expected that to occur, only had one incident with it so far, learned a lot about how it works that nite. Took me a couple of hours to figure it out, but, now, have a pretty good idea of what affects what in the programming and scale setup and powder handling setup. It works the way it is supposed to, person can throw charges that are consistent within the scale's range, and it's easy enough to use. As to what it has really done for the loads, that's debatable, you get to a point where it's all about little stuff, or a person gets to fighting themselves over the nitpicky stuff, but, it is illustrative at least.

good point, although they really are quite robust and remarkably well built.
Personally I use a Harrel’s powder thrower and Dandy trickler in conjunction with the 120i.

Added; I actually traded 1k bullets to a friend for the fx120 I have, he really didn’t use it, I’m quite happy with it.

I do the same Frank except I have a 505 sartorious has worked perfectly for me for over ten years but I might be interested in the new ingenuity system if I could ever get a price on it.

Different opinion here. Wait and buy the Ingenuity. I have 2 V3’s on Satorius scales. They worked great. Upgraded to the Ingenuity tricklers a few months ago and they are night and day related to speed and consistent throws. I am still on the list for the complete system and I will be then selling both of my V3 systems.

I can make great ammunition with a tuned beam scale but the Electric is just so much easier on my neck and back, I had no choice but to make the move.
I won’t go back to a beam scale.

The time proposition makes me want one aside from needing a better precision scale. It will one more facet I can discount from a fluffed shot

I have a V4 and an fx120i scale. They are pretty much plug and play.

Adam, the guy that makes the AutoTrickler and Shotmarker, has always been prompt to respond to any questions regarding any of his products. He is in the top echelon, second to none, when it comes to customer service.

That's been my experience as well. Even on a pre-order with an estimated ship date, the item shipped on time. I sent Adam a short video of an eccentric bushing on my v3, had a replacement within a week.
