Buying Ammo in NYS

Due to antiquated computers the NYS Troopers have been unable to start up their NITS check on ammo sales, but it is still in the SAFE Act. It is my understanding that retailers have to send info to the Troopers with the name, address, type and amount of all ammo sales. Is there anybody out there with personal information?

Was at gun show this weekend to purchase ammo drivers license occupation they want it all its getting out of control NOT COOL AT ALL

Yes it is true! I purchased a box of a 7mm rem mag today.
Drivers license and place of employment required.
What happens if someone is between jobs?

Ny sucks!!

Hey with all respect, the issue is not with the details you mentioned.
It is the death of a thousand cuts - in states populated with persons and their elected representatives who oppose our shooting sports and rights. The minutia of this "particular" situation - is merely obfuscation of the intent by some states to suppress gun ownership. It's not the computers...I don't know your situation, but - ID, MT, WY, ND, SD come to mind. All the best to you-been there.

What proof of employment is required? Just curious IF the Ga. Elections fall a certain way.

It's supposed to be occupation per the language in the law.
I'd argue a lot before giving them employer info, if at all.
Give 'em something very generic like mechanic, technician or IT

So, they didn't document the amount or type of ammo? Just name, address and occupation.

I have this reoccurring nightmare. Store reports you bought pistol ammo for a pistol you don't have registered and that is grounds for a judge to give the troopers a search warrant. (you may have an unregistered pistol)
