Buying a used bench gun.

Being I don't see any classifieds on here.
Do you guys ever get tired of shooting the same ol tack driver and sell them? You must.

It seems if I could buy a tried and pruven gun with brass, dies etc I would be off and shooting.

How much do you think I would have to spend for a entry level 1/2 MAO gun.

What are your thoughts Please.

To buy a used BR rifle with everything you mentioned might get you stuck with another man's discard. Forget the extras buy the gun with or without a BR scope for say $1500 with a Custom action. Maybe a $1000 with a Remington action. Chances are no scope. My friend Lowell Frei was selling a half dozen Custom action BR guns at the Cactus for $1500 each. I would buy his used guns before I would buy anybody else's, he will tell you about the guns he built and be honest about the condition of the barrel. Link you have to be real careful about buying a used BR rifle, you need to know if the barrel on the gun belongs on the rifle. Some sellers have been known to screw on any barrel they have to sell the gun. Have a smith check the head space before shooting the gun, better yet let the seller shoot the gun if he backs off go elsewhere for a used BR rifle.

There are 2 'For Sale' forums at the bottom of the forums main page. There was a 6PPC there just recently that has not been marked as 'sold' that I would have bought had I not had my heart set on a 30br. I did buy a bag and donut from the same seller and it was exactly as described and promptly shipped. In corresponding with the person he came across as a genuinely great guy, typical BR person in my limited experience.

PS: The 30BR I bought [off some other forum] got me 3rd place in my first event with a top shelf BR rifle [ at only my 2nd score event ]. At his own suggestion, the seller loaned me 100 rds of prepped brass, 100 excellent bullets and his seater die so I could compete in a match 3 days after I received the rifle. So don't be too afraid of buying used, just ask lots of questions.

Go to www.benchrest.com/shooterscorner Bob White has the largest collection of used guns out there. Some may be sold already so make a list of what looks promising to you and give him a call. I've bought from him personally and can tell you I have been completely satisfied.
www.benchrest.com has their own classifieds where you may be able to find what your looking for also.
