Butch's 6mm patches won't go

Not only jag size, but length and shape make a difference to what patches will work.
The Tipton's being a short shank jag, don't compliment specific patch sizes as well as long shank jags.
Myself like aluminium long shanks the best.

Yes, I like those too!!! I go back and forth. I didn't know, and I just bought two brand new 22s!!!

I bought these Butch's patches. They seem great, but even going to a 22 jag they still won't go through the bore of my 6mms. I use the Tipton safe jags. Is there something I don't know to get these to work?

Look at the felt pellets, after using them I have not used a jag and patch.

I quite using the BUTCH'S patches due to the sizes from bag to bag being very inconsistent. I have had pretty good luck with Sinclair patches.

If you don’t mind sacrificing a jag,
chuck it up in a power drill and run a fine file
over it while spinning. Reduce the jag diameter a bit
at a time until you get the perfect feel i.e not too loose,
not too tight. Works for me.

cheers,
Chris

stab them off center and theyll go. for a 6mm I use a .22 jag and a 1 3/4sq patch.

After I got the Pro shot .22 jag installed (recommended here) I finally got the 6mm Butch patch to go through the 6mm bore, only if stabbed slightly off center. Center stabbing will not go. That being said, man do these things work like crazy!! They scrub like the best patch ever!!! And they hold a lot more solvent.

It doesn't have anything to do with Butch's patches but I use a 22 jag and larger patches on my 6BR intentionally. The patch material is compliant and can be readily pushed into the grooves. It also carries more of whatever I am applying and absorbs more of what I am trying to remove.
