Busted by 4 coyotes, but made up for it.....

Yea I know...Not ANOTHER one of his p-dogs posts, don't that guy do anything else...hahah

What a tough morning on a ranch. Called 4 sets in 1.5hrs, saw NO coyotes, then walking out one pops up out of a drainage as I was moving to another area, looks at me and says so long ol man in afterburner...busted
Driving out where the 2 track is on a hill top I see one at a dead calf 500 yards off, Ill get this one....NOPE, busted as it sees the truck easy enough and splits before I even get to stop.
Make it to the ranch and head to the p-dog towns and again I'm on top of hill side and see a nice pair of coyotes on full run out of the pasture/drainage...yup busted, but I at least can say they were already headed back into the other side of this ranch at about 800 yards out.

Well heck I have to make up for them in p-dogs.
All my shooting to day was prone & sitting using my sticks as I was walking the hills and shooting between valleys I have not put a round into yet. They were pretty packed full of p-dogs.
Nice thing is about the widest area was maybe 225 yards, so all were pretty close.
Made up for coyotes with buckets full of dead p-dogs, (that is if one was to pick them all up).
This was about a 3 mile loop p-dog walkabout & 267 rounds into them.
My best shooting string was 36 rounds rapid firing, not a spot for single shots if you want to pop as many fast as possible before they realize what's going on.

Talked to the manager on the way out & he tells me they had 14 coyotes in the cattle pastures this morning and they all just kinda trotted away in no hurry or stood there looking at them.
Course then he says they were all riding horses moving cows and when a coyote sees them like that they seem to have not a worry. Yup no 2 track into that area for me to drive into. I said saddle me a horse up and Ill put the fix on them for you if I don't break my neck riding a horse.
He said if I was there when they do that he will stick me on a "easy" horse...hahahah

Mules might be a better choice to shoot off of 5! I can see you holding on as the horse is heading for the barn! Been there, done that

Im going to stay grounded. Last time I was on a horse at a cousins place was when I was maybe 14 and it took off like a bat out of hell as soon as I got in the saddle. It was no fun holding on for my life. I'm going to stick with walking.

AckleymanII, doncha wisht you had that rifle back you just HAD to trade on that Mule.......:p;):D
