Bushnell Engage rifle scopes

You guys that have one of the Bushnell Engage series of scopes. What do you think of them as a everyday decent price hunting scope?

my guideline is to spend as much on the scope as i did on the rifle.
i do not own any rifles that cheap..but the scopes to appear clear...yes i have one

I bought a 4-16 30mm version when they first came out. It's done general duty on a number of rifles from .223 to .300 WM. Probably been on half a dozen rifles so far. It's very basic. The reticle isn't too busy, the scope isn't too heavy or bulky, and it's optically adequate. It holds zero, and returns to zero if I dial it. I like the locking turrets. Positive clicks, and they're fairly low profile. I don't know what they ask for them now, but mine was ~$300 when I bought it. At that price point I think it's a bargain. I would buy another if the price was right.

I have a couple of the 4-16 x 30 scopes. Received them in exchange on a warranty claim for a discontinued scope. Bushnell has excellent CS. Great glass for the money. Put one on my 25-06. The other is on a PCP airgun. They will focus down to 10 yards. Adjustments work great, holds zero, returns to zero. Decent in low light.

I have two 6-18×50 and one 6-24×50

Since their original release in Australia their retail price has almost doubled.

Originally the 6-18 was selling for approx. $220 and the 6-24 for approx $400.

At these original prices, considering some of their limitations they were good value for money.

Given the new increased prices , in my opinion there are much better scopes on offer at the same price.

The most disappointing design feature of both engage scopes is the fact that they have no reference markings on either the vertical or horizontal adjustment turrets.

Unless an accurate count of the clicks is kept, the task of re zeroing or adjusting for different sight in distances is frustrating and less than precise.

The 6-18 is made in Korea and the 6-24 in China.

For bush shooting, optically they are more than adequate, for range target applications, in my opinion they leave a lot to be desired.

cheers
