Bushnell Elite 6500 Scopes

Anyone seen or tested the new 6500 series from Bushnell? Man that 4-30x50 sounds like the cats meow at the $850 SWF has it listed for. Just no spec's listed yet. Bushnell doesn't even have it listed on their web site yet.

I got the 2.5/16*40 2 months ago, it is awesome!! Very bright, very clear and tracks with precision. I got it from the Optics zone, they're a lot cheaper than SWFA on these scopes.

We looked the 6500 scopes over at the SHOT Show in Feb., and I was impressed enough with the optical quality & the specs to order one of the 2.5-16x42s as soon as they became available. I've compared the optics with a Leupold 6.5-20x40 LR set at 16x, and am satisfied that there's little or no difference between the two. Since I haven't mounted the 6500 on a rifle yet, I have no idea how well it'll track and repeat, so juliang's positive comments above are good to hear. I'm looking forward to the 4.5-30x50 becoming available, and intend to try one on a new LR prone rifle in 284W.

Check price at Graf's before buying a 6500. As of 5/28, their prices were well worth looking at. I'm just sayin'....

Just out of curiosity, How many minutes are you guys seeing on your 4.5x30's going just by mechanical rotation? Also, does your scope have multi-turn graduations on the turret? ,underneath the turret)

My partner bought the 4.5X30 to go on our P-Dog hunt but the so called fine plex reticle looks like a tree trunk at 1000 Yds. It will probably be on Ebay real soon.

I picked up a 4.5-30 Bushnell 6500 Mil-Dot on Friday, our shooters club gets great prices from Graf and Sons. Initial impressions are all good, the reticle seems to be the same as in the Tactical 6-24 4200 models that I've come to like in the dog fields of South Dakota. I'll try the 6500 out in SD late next week but I think this is the most versatile scope I own. Great glass, nice size and weight for a 30mm tube and 50mm objective. The NSX Nightforce are my favorite scopes but since Bushnell came out with the 4200 Tactical and the 6500 series I can't justify the price difference, the NSX is more then double the 6500 nearly triple my price on the tactical.....I would pay extra for Bushnell reticle choices though.

Could you comment on this problem we are seeing in Canada.

On the turrents, are there horizontal hash marks so that you can 'count' rotations?

Scopes here have a vertical line but no horizontal marks. You can't tell how many revolutions you have gone. This would be on the 'inner' sleeve NOT the turrent you spin with your finger.

I have suggested just a bit of QC and oversight at the manf but reports from Bushnell indicate there is 'no problem to correct'.

I was going to get a 6500 but have stopped because of this turrent concern.

Appreciate any feedback and pics.

In the USA, it's a "turret".

If I were to pay $700-800 for some thing made in the Far East, I'd buy the Nikko Stirling 10x50x60 for under $500 1/8th clicks and IR. For under $800 you can get the Aust./NZ Champions Choice with a MilDot or NATO retical.

I'll stick with my OLD Leupold, as it is made in the USA.

Joe, thanks for the pics. They reinforce the concern I had and the stupidity at the Bushnell end.

The scope has so many great end users but they have made it redundant with 5 cents worth of machining.

Yes, we can scribe in hash marks but do you buy a high end auto to rebuild the suspension?

They had the makings of really taking back some market share in the upper end of scopes. Instead, look silly and really limit the scope to hunters, maybe).

I think the pull/push turrent is not a bad thing. Who is going to use them much after sighting in? Much more secure then the conventional coin moved dials.

The reason I will not buy this scope is also the lack of elevation. At 70 to 80 mins, it would have been worth the hassle, but at 50mins, there are other options.
