Bushnell Elite 3200 Any Good ?

I had the scope on my main hunting rifle (Remington 700 30/06) go bad.
The reticle has come loose and it is not supported by Burris any more.
I have no luck in after market repair services, seems no body works on Burris.
I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 in 3x9x40 that was given to me a while ago.
Memory seems to think that Bushnell did make some decent scopes at one time .
Would this be one of these ?
It will replace a 2 3/4 x shotgun scope ,no body makes that style any more. :(

This is one of those scopes. Tough as nails.

3200 had 3x zoom range and 4200 had 4x range. Same glass and construction.

Those are pretty decent, made-in-Japan scopes.
I also bemoan the fact that nobody seems to want to make a fixed 2.5 or 2.75 power scope.
I am one of probably 30 people left in the world that like them. Everyone else seems to want a three pound scope.

Good to hear its worth putting on the rifle.
I have a Leupold VX3 1.75x6 on my other 30/06.
Just cant pony up the money for another one of those right now.
And yes,I wish they would bring back the lower powered scopes without all the Tacticool options.
I have had a couple of the older 2.5x compacts and was sad to see them disappear.

In what way?
Turrets, tracking, and etched reticles mostly. Some of those 4200 the reticle was really bad with the black turning silver when there was back light. The 2-10 wasn't so bad, but I had another that it was really annoying. It was B&L branded and i think 1.5-6. Been so long I can't remember.

If all you will ever do is set it and forget it, modern scopes are not a huge benefit. The image in those 4200s is still fantastic. I traded off a vx3 1.5-5 to get the 4200 2-10. That vx3 killed mountains of critters, I just shoot tons of jack rabbits and wanted more for magnification for that task. Dang wish I still had it, but I couldn't afford it back then.

Now I use tract toric 2-10. Sweet turrets and etched reticle. About the same weight as the old 2-10 4200. I tried the swfa ultralight 2-10 and the maven 2-10 before settling on the tract.

Its true that scopes have gotten obese and you can spend a lot. I wish more companies would make premium 1" scopes. Fast, flat, MPBR cartridges, with a sfp 1" scope are still the hot ticket for walking up jack rabbits! Aint no time to dial or get out a range finder!

I had the 4-12 3200 and still have a 4-16 4500 that click with dead reliability and are tough as nails.

There are definitely different feature sets on newer scopes and for some applications I consider it 'advanced'.

But when it comes to a basic, compact, durable zoom scope with good optics, it's hard to beat these 3200s and 4200s.
