Bushnell 6-24X50 Tactical Elite 4200

Does anyone know when these will be available? What is the tube size? What is the total vertical adjustment?
Thanks, shcal.

Steve,

I'll call Bushnell next week and see if I can get any info. Watch the Bulletin, http://www.6mmBR.com/bulletin.html

Thanks Paul. This could be a very good and reasonably priced scope. I have a 6-24 Bushnell and, as everyone knows who has one they are wonderful glass but very limited in vertical adjustment, no side focus and the mil-dot reticle is a bit thick.

I already have the 30mm version which I have not yet mounted. It's is broadly similar to the 1" version, but has exposed target style turrets with 48 clicks per rotation with just under 4 whole rotations available. I don't yet know if each click is 1/4 or 1/8 minute.
Like the 1" version, it has side focus, down to 25 yards), and the same mildot ret true at 12x mag. It also has the same overall length, but comes with a sunshade.
Optics seem fine, and it doesn't suffer the tiny FOV that the 1" has. Finally, it is a lot heavier at just over 25oz.

Bushnell claims 45 MOA total for the 6X-24X 30mm. Also, they are .250 clicks.

Hey Mr.Moderator, anybody..

What's the latest on the super duper Varmint/Tactical Elite scope?????????

May have to get one of those bad boys...

Two questions about the aformentioned scope;

#1- Seen 'em advertized for $527.95. Is that the best price ya'll have seen???

#2- Will be used mainly for busting Crows and Groundhogs with a side order of long range paper punching. Is this the best scope in the $500.00 price range for this activity??

1. That seems like a good price for the Bushnell 6-24x50 30mm. SWFA has them advertised for $569.99:

http://www.swfa.com/p-9847-new-bushnell-6-24x50-elite-4200-30mm-rifle-scope.aspx

2. It's not a 30mm, but at around $550 the new Nikon 6.5-24 Monarch should be competitive in this price category. But it's not expected to ship until June.

Well, I broke down and ordered one from one of your sponsers,The Optic Zone) along with a set of Signature Insert Rings. Hope to wring it out next week on my 6mmBR. Fingers crossed...

Been a huge fan of the Elite 4200's for years. compete with a AO 6X24 w/mildots in my F,O) rifle.

Have been using the SF 1" 6x24 w/ mildots and am also equally impressed. If looking for a smaller version of the scope above, this is it. great turrents, side focus that actually works, typical excellent optics. Makes a great LR hunting scope.

It has the carryover 30min of total travel which is a pity.

When I heard that this new 30mm version was coming out, I have been on pins and needles. The big thought being how much more elevation will this bad boy have?

At 45 to 48min in a 30mm tube, this is a major let down. I am sure that the mechanicals will work as wonderfully as the other versions but this isn't much more then many 1" tubes.

The 3200 10X has 80min in a 1" tube. Unfortunately, optics isn't to my tastes.

I do alot of LR shooting and was hoping to see 60 to 80 min of travel. I guess most shooters don't need much past 1000yds.

I am looking at the new Nikon 4x16 mildot SF that has 40min of travel instead. All this in a 1" pipe and $200 cheaper.

Bummer...
Jerry

According to an E-Mail from Bushnell, the 30mm tube had 50 MOA vs 30 MOA for the 1" tube. That's nearly double, give or take. Add 20 or 40 MOA bases and 20 MOA Signature Insert rings and one should be able to shoot a fer piece IMO...

At present, I am plinking at 1600m,1 mile) and can easily reach out to 1950m,2150yds) if I had enough elevation. Holding over at that range is far from productive.

Then there is another spot where you can go....

With my 300RUM, my full down zero is 1000m. The scope on there now has 60min of elevation but no mil dots so I can make it to the mile and a bit further.

For this new elite to be useful for me, full down and the top mark would be at 1000m. Then I would have 48min of scope and 36min of reticle at the very most. However, when you want to use the 24X, you cut your reticle to 18min for a total of 66min which is right where I am now.

I prefer more then 12X when shooting at a mile plus.

I can go get a Mk4 16X with 120min but don't have the budget for that. Would likely go to a mechanical elevation scope base before that. Far less cost, way more elevation change.

Was just hoping to get my favorite brand of scope with more elevation. Not this time.

Mike at CSgunworks.com tested one and he got 45 MOA top to bottom. I suppose there may be unit to unit variations. But assuming the reticle is reasonably centered to start with with Signature Rings, OR a 20 MOA rail, that would give you at least 42 MOA above center. A .308 shooting 175 MKs at 2700, will need 40.7 moa "up" from 0 yards to 1000 yards. A 6BR shooting 105s at 2850 will need 34.6 "up" elevation from 0 to 1000.

The key question is if one is really getting 1/2 the total travel above center.

I met a fellow @ Mickey Coleman's place,Rachel's Glen) that makes an adjustable scope base that has marks for any yardage you please. I believe he shoots at the Rock,Ft.Benning area)

He was popping small steel plates with a 22rf @ 200 yds with ease.

I'm going back down to Mickey's this coming weekend. I'll try to get the specifics..

Got the scope and signature rings today. The 30MM rings come with 2 sets of .010" inserts. Used them for max elevation advantage and got sighted-in,1" High @ 100 yds)with 40MOA of Elevation left in the scope. Really like the optics and love the side focus. This is my first scope with such a set-up. I'm thinking the Crows and Groundhogs are really gonna hate this 6mmBR...:)

I talked with Mickey on the phone but couldn't make it down there this past Saturday. Anyhoo, his name is Chris Self and I believe Mickey said they run around $250.00 IIRC. I'll get you a phone number this weekend.

OK, Here's some info on the adjustable scope base;

Called the Variable Gantry Mount. Made by Chris Self of Dothan,Al. Phone # 1-334-872-0121

Has 10 different settings. You choose the yardage you want. He uses this @ The Rock,Ft.Benning area) I believe several post on the "Hide" that also shoot @ the Rock. They could maybe offer added comments...
