Bushing vs honed FL sizing die...

As a result of another thread I started I began looking at bushing dies to minimize overworking brass in a 6.5CM. It seems like a lot of people remove the bushing and just use it as a body die and use either a mandrel or a lee collet die to open up the neck.

1. If going that route wouldn't a standard, non bushing die achieve the same result?
2. If you're going to do that wouldn't it just make sense to get a custom honed die from someone like Forster?
3. Are there others that hone the rest of the die or is it always just the neck?

really people have success with all kinds of different sizing tecniques. depends on what you are trying to do. consistency is the key. custom full length sizing die made from your fired brass will work your brass the least but many have great results with a lee collet die and a redding body die. i think a honed forster is a good compromise.

an interesting solution that is a little pricey. Whidden will hone his full length sizing die. he also sells an expander ball kit that will allow you to adjust neck tension much like you would with a mandrel. i have one and it produces consistent neck tension with little or no runout.
